ABOUT KATHY FRANCIS
ARTIST STATEMENT
I search for serenity and spirituality in the quiet moments. I attempt to capture these feelings while I get my fingers dirty with a variety of media including: pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media.
I believe life is a series of moments and experiences, unique to each of us. My art is a living journal of meaningful moments in my life. The loss of my mother and uncle at an early age has made me value every minute and attempt to capture meaningful life moments.
Through my art, I hope to convey soulful feelings I have experienced. These often are in conjunction with nature—whether a simple cast of sunlight, the continually changing clouds, or the quiet of the morning. These simple, yet meaningful life moments, are the gems of life. I am often dealing with concepts of human mortality, the uncontrollable passing of time, the beauty in nature,
and sources of spirituality.

BIOGRAPHY
I'm a Cincinnati native with over 25 years art experience with a Bachelor's Degree from Northern Kentucky University in Communication and Graphic Design. I was a professional graphic designer until a year after my first child was born. Then, I shifted my focus to fine art and attempted to capture every quiet moment to paint! For over 20 years now, I have dedicated time to paint, developing my skills, showing my art, and teaching art classes. I have exhibited in local shows, painted local murals, and published in Corduroy Road Magazine. I also designed and implemented a project called "Journeys" in which I recorded the stories and painted portraits of residents of The Village Senior Living Center in Logan, IN.
I had a studio for two years at Cincinnati's premier Pendleton Arts Center, an eight floor warehouse of artists. Now, I have my private studio closer to my home in Lawrenceburg, IN. I have been a docent (tour guide) at the Cincinnati Art Museum since 2017 and love sharing my excitement for art with the public!
